The 20ft High Cube Moving Containers are the most common container used for residential relocations within Australia. The capacity is 38cubic meters (6m long x 2.35m wide x 2.7m high). These containers come with tie off points for securing your goods and vapour vents do reduce the chances of water or other vapours building up inside. You can watch a video showing inside of a typical 20ft HC container here. You can see a few examples of people loading 20ft self pack containers (time lapse) on our videos page here
The most common method of delivery for residential moves is with tilt tray trucks. Check out our videos showing how this works here.
For customers who have more to move than what will fit into a 20ft HC container, the options are to; use a 40ft container or use two 20ft HC containers. It is generally recommended that residential customers use two 20ft moving containers rather than a 40ft container. This is because;
40ft containers do not have as many tie points on the walls
We cannot supply packaging materials with 40ft containers
The trucks that deliver 40ft containers are generally not well suited to residential locations.
The price to transport two 20ft containers is normally only marginally more than to transport a 40ft container.
Locations where 20ft HC moving containers are available:
Cairns, Townsville, Rockhampton, Gladstone, Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Burnie, Hobart, Launceston, Adelaide, Darwin and Perth.
The 20ft GP container is most often used when transporting general commercial freight. The capacity is 33 cubic meters (6m long x 2.35m wide x 2.35m high). These containers have heavy lashing points at floor and ceiling and vapour vents.
The most common method of delivery is tilt tray truck for gross weights under 9t and side-loading trucks where the weight is expected to go over 9t. You can see a video of a side-loader in action here.
20ft GP containers are available at all locations.
Normally used on self pack commercial projects.
Available in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth.
